A Bazaar will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday Oct 22 at the historic cobblestone Universalist Church on Main St in Middleport. Lunch will feature homemade beef vegetable and bean soups, sandwiches, pies and beverages. Along with a bake sale, there will be takes outs available . Stop by for drawings, Rada cutlery, games for kids and handmade items. There will be craft items and flea market items. Come and shop and visit with friends. Something for everyone.

     On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, the Rotary Club of Middleport had a special meeting at The Basket Factory in Middleport, where they hosted Rotary District Governor John Heise and the Rotary Assistant District Governor Barb Guida.  In addition to being the District Governor for 2011-2012 in Rotary District 7090, John is a member of the Rotary Club in Holley, NY.  Barb is currently serving in her third year as District 7090 Assistant District Governor and is a member of the Rotary Club in Clarence, NY.  The Rotary Club of Middleport meets weekly on Tuesday at 6:00pm at The Basket Factory.  New members are welcome.
     For over 70 years the Rotary Club of Middleport has supported various charities, organizations, and other causes.  Some of the outstanding local events and community service projects supported by Middleport Rotary are improvement projects at Medina Hospital, the Tri-Parish Food Pantry, Boy Scout Troup 23, Rotary Park (Near Scout House on Rt. 31), Margaret Droman Park (on N. Bank of Canal), Annual Duck Derby (on Memorial Day weekend), and the annual Middleport Easter Egg UntHuHunt.  Rotary Club of Middleport also provides scholarships to Royalton Hartland Central School as well as sponsoring exchange students, and holding the annual Senior Recognition Dinner.  The club also supports various Rotary International programs.
     Rotary Club of Middleport is a part of district 7090 which is composed of clubs from both the United States and Canada.  The history of District 7090 began in 1918 with the creation of the first truly international district in the Rotary world. There are currently 73 clubs in District 7090.
     Rotary is one of the largest and most influential international humanitarian organizations in the world.  Rotary has 1.2 million members worldwide who belong to more than 33,000 Rotary Clubs in more than 200 countries.  As volunteers, Rotary Members have been serving the needs of communities worldwide since 1905.  Rotary promotes peace and international understanding through its educational and humanitarian programs.
     Rotary sponsors the largest privately funded international scholarship program in the world.  Since 1947, Rotary has contributed roughly $500 million to fund 38,000 students from 100 countries.  These cultural ambassadors use the skills they acquire through their studies abroad to help their communities.
     Rotary’s top philanthropic goal is to eradicate polio worldwide.  Rotary and its partners have reduced Polio Cases by 99 percent worldwide.  Since 1985, Rotary members have donated their time and money to help immunize more than two billion children in 122 countries.  To date, Rotary has contributed more than US$800 million and countless volunteer hours to fighting the disease.  Only 300 cases of polio were reported in 2011 as compared with the 350,000 cases that were reported in 1988.
