Taste of Lockport 2010

This year the Taste of Lockport 2010 was a great place to be. Since cooking is one of my blog subjects I had to visit and write about it. Also I enjoy trying things I want to learn to cook at home.  After making a long list of places to visit, I wrote about my three favorite items from the places on my list. It’s always fun to walk around the first time and select the places you want to stop at on your second time around.

Cammaratas  Restaurant of Lockport served the Chicken marsala, a dish I order when I go to restaurants because ,yes, ok, I find hard to cook at home. I’ve tried a few different recipes and can’t get it right. But Cammarattas knows how to make it well and it smelled delicious and tasted great, even in 80 something degree heat…

Next to Manhattan’s for the Lobster macaroni and cheese.  When I finally got up to the front of the line , they had to make another batch.  I wasn’t going anywhere and along with others seemed  happy to wait  patiently for about 10 minutes while they made more. It was worth the wait since the dish had creamy mac made wth three cheeses and generous chunks of lobster peeking out from the pasta. The lobster was tender and not overcooked, it was a good choice and worth the few minutes to wait.

The Basket Factory of Middleport had a yummy Coconut Chicken with mango salsa. The chicken was very moist and the crusted coconut sweetened the chicken without making it dry. The coconut was crunchy and the sweeted mango salsa topping it off made the dish terrific.

So, even though it was very hot  weather(I’m a fall and winter person) it was a tasty way to spend the afternoon.  I ended the day with a canoli and the music of the band 90 West.
