An 1862 canal schooner replica will be open to the public for tours from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 9. The Lois McClure schooner will be docked here in downtown Middleport as part of the Grand Canal Journey and is one of 20 locations she will visit along the Erie Canal. This is free to the public.  Groups are certainly welcome. Come on into the village, have a bite to eat at any one of our local restaurants and tour the boat!

The Middleport Free Library now has on display an “1862 Class”, 1:50 scale model of the Erie Canal Schooner depicted during construction.  The Model was constructed by Middleport resident – Bob Woods over a 3  month period. The showcase also has a display of Erie Canal Books and pictures. The “Lois McClure” Schooner will be stopping in Middleport on Sept 9 as part of it’s Erie Canal trip.
