Girl Scout Junior Troop 78 of Middleport is collecting pull tabs from pop and beer cans for a community service project to benefit Sav-A-Pet of Niagara County’s spay and neuter program, to earn their pet care badge. Please bring tabs to Middleport Free Library during library hours and deposit in the container marked for Girl Scout Pull Tab Collection. This is an ongoing project.

Attention all organizations, business and church groups. Girl Scout Troop 78 and the Village of Middleport are sponsoring a contest to beautify our village by filling 24 flower barrels. They ask groups to plant a barrel with your own design of plants and flowers. The village provides the barrels and they are filled with soil for groups to adopt and decorate with their own design. They will be numbered for a blind, impartial judging. Groups should pick a barrel and contact Linda Hedley, 2891 Carmen Rd., Middleport with an application picked up at the Middleport Village Hall. The barrels will be put out around May 15, so you can start working on them and they will be judged around the first week in July. Two judges with a horticultural background will judge the barrels, with a cash prize to the winners. Groups must provide plants and flowers, fertilizer and some soil to renew the barrels and they must be taken care of and watered by the group. Let’s get creative and make Middleport a beautiful village. Call Linda Hedley for instructions at 735-9003 or 208-1593. Get applications early.
