The Wilson-Lake Plains Christmas Bird Count, which includes parts of Lockport, Wilson, Olcott, Newfane & Cambria, will be Saturday December 19, 2009
If residents are interested, you can do an official Birdfeeder count at your own house on that day. The results will be included in the official count.
To get a Feeder Watch packet contact Garner Light before December 10th at garnerlight@hotmail.com,  He can send you a Feeder Watch packet which includes a map of the count territory and a bird checklist. If you have participated in the past and would like to do so again, please send an email.
The annual Christmas Bird Count is sponsored by National Audubon, and this is the 110th year of these counts. For more information about the history of the Christmas Bird Count : www.birdsource.org

Light is interested in hearing about Snowy Owl, Short Eared Owl and other unusual bird sightings within the count area.

Garner Light is your contact person for the bird count,” This year I need you to keep your bird feeders full by Dec. 19. Last year we saw a lot of empty bird feeders.
So if you see a car pull up in front of your house on that day, and people with binoculars are looking at your yard, don’t worry we are just interested in the birds at your feeders.”
