There’s a bright window in the Village of Middleport where the suns shine in any weather. Peggy Burgess, owner of Peggy’s Towpath Café sold over 100 suns in just 2 days for the Relay For Life in Lockport. Thanks to Peggy and her customers for helping the Relay against cancer. The Lockport Relay is one of the largest in the area and it has had many villages and towns helping the fight against cancer.
The Lockport Relay starts at 2 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. on June 20. The Relay began originally in Barker and is now held at the Emmet Belknap School track in Lockport. Come and spend the evening with the teams, visitors and stay for the Luminaria Ceremony at 10 p.m. Thousands of candles are lit in honor or in memory of those who have faced cancer. They are placed around the track to light the way for walkers. Please call Donna Czaja at 735-3941 for more information or to donate or purchase a luminaria.
