Winter is winding down slowly and the grass is peeking through. It was windy and cold on Saturday but it was a great day to Wine about Winter in Medina. Organized by Cindy Robinson with members of the Niagara Wine Trail ,the day started at the Chamber Office . We paid 10$, received our wine glasses and our map of historic downtown Medina. Each shop that was participating had balloons out front and you walked the area up and down Main St to shop and try different wines.
We tried Ruby wine from Schultze Vineyards and Winery on Coomer Rd. Ann Schultze was showing her wines in Blissets with some lovely formal dresses. It was wine taster and shoppers dream come true, with me being the taster and my mother being the shopper in the family.

My Mother Betty came along on the wine tasting trail with me and we were delighted to meet up with the owner of a winery that we did not know, Schwenk Wine Cellars. I was informed this is the only winery on the WNY Country Barn Quilt Trail, they are located in Kent NY. Owner Cathy Schwenk talked to us about their wines and we tasted Santa’s Secret . It was one of my favorites, and the quaint Whole Nine Yards Fabric store was playing Dean Martin music in the background, I could have stayed all day and I don’t even sew.

The Book Shoppe held warm wines from Vizcarra Vineyards in Gasport at Becker Farms. Leonard Oakes had their wines at two different locations so it was a treat to stop and try theirs at two places.
The Wine about Winter was a different way to try wines, not like in a winery setting but I enjoyed it and was reminded that Medina holds lots of great shopping plus desserts at the Shirt Factory Cafe looked really good !
We met some visitors from Bergen NY while waiting to go inside to sign up, who said waiting in line isn’t fun?
Left to right, Michele Smith, Joan Mitchell and Rachael Millspaugh. Waiting in line to Wine about Winter..
