The Village of Middleport NY is getting ready for the Sesquicentennial Celebration. The Festivities start on Saturday March 28 with a candlelight procession down Main Street. All Village Civic Organization are welcome to join in the procession, as well as any resident who is interested. Hotdogs grilled by the Sesquicentennial Committee will be offered at 6pm and light refreshments at the Fire Hall at 7pm. If any businesses would like to donate refreshments you can contact Mayor Julie Maedl.
The candlelight parade is just one of the events planned for this special year celebrating 150 years . On Memorial Day Weekend May 24, Village residents are invited to a 2 p.m. picnic at Rotary Park. There will be a non-denominational Ecumenical service at 4 p.m. offered by Middleport Area Clergy and Churches Assoc. with a concert by Roy-Hart High School Band members immediately following the service. On Memorial Day there will be a formal dedication of the Brick Walkway at the Veterans’ Memorial at the Commons, corner of Park Ave. and Main St. This will take place during the annual Memorial Day Service offered by Clute-Phillips Post #938 of the American Legion.
A street dance is planned for July 18, featuring the dulcet tones of the Easy Street Big Band. It’s a family event with music and summertime fun.
